Karen has a 30-year career serving in senior leadership positions. She has extensive experience in team-building and finance, working with a wide range of companies from early-stage to public with domestic and foreign operations. Before joining the Truett Hurst team in 2017, Karen served in several executive positions at Amyris, a publicly-traded biotechnology company, progressing from Principal Accounting Officer, to Vice President Finance, to Vice President and Corporate Controller. Prior to joining Amyris, Karen served as Vice President and Corporate Controller of Sonic Solutions, a publicly-traded global digital media software and entertainment solutions provider.
Working at Truett Hurst represents the culmination of my life-long passion for food, and I am especially proud of our organic and Biodynamic farming ethos. I have had the opportunity to see, first-hand, the incredible connection between our ecological approach to viticulture and the quality that results in our wines.
Proving that following your heart opens your career path to new and exciting possibilities, several years ago Karen began pursuing her life-long passion in food, obtaining her chef and nutrition certifications. She learned the culinary foundations, as well the role that healthy food plays in nutrition and well-being. Through her gastronomic journey, Karen also discovered the intimate connection between food and wine. She is absolutely delighted working in an industry that contributes to the role wine and food has in bringing people together- families, friends, and communities.
