Red Blends have been wildly popular in the US for many years now. Interestingly, most of the big sellers are Zinfandel-based. That said, Zinfandel and Petite Sirah are like chocolate and peanut butter to us so for our first Truett Hurst red blend, Dragonfly, we use them both. Finally, to add a little interest, wild game and earthiness, we add some Syrah. The resulting wine is decadent in both flavor and aroma. Ripe red fruit aromas are complimented by exotic spice notes and flavors of Bing cherry extract meld perfectly with fresh cracked black pepper and fine grain tannin structure.
