Our inaugural Petite Sirah Vineyard Designate from our Estate Vineyard in the Dry Creek Valley!
This wine holds a special place for me. Historically, this fruit never quite made the cut as a vineyard designate. We always had trouble getting canopy vigor and grape concentration. Then we moved to farming our Estate Biodynamically, and year after year the vineyard improved. After some years, we were blind tasting some wines in the cellar and kept coming back to 2 lots. Turned out it was Blocks 4 and 5 of our Petite Sirah on the property. It was incredible! The best part, every year the fruit gets even better.
This wine shows impeccable concentration, fruit, and tannin working in perfect harmony. Dark blackberry, blueberry muffin, and vanilla flood the bouquet. Tannin on the palate is like silk, especially given how much of it there is, allowing seamless movement from front to back, and finishing long and lush. Concentrated blackberry and strawberry jam notes transfer from nose to mouth. An absolutely wonderful expression of what the proper farming can do to a vineyard and the resulting wine.
